Each volume a has a bound essay and loose hand-colored illustrations of French ceramic objects in the collections of the Musee de Louvre. The Table of Contents lists 7 chapters, including information on the ceramics of France in the 16th century, the diverse Fabriques of that time including those of Lyon, Rouen, Nevers, and Saint-Porchaire, Bernard Palissy and his school, a bibliography and a table of illustrations. The Table of Contents lists 10 chapters including the Fabriques of Nevers, Rouen, Sinceny, Paris, Moustiers, Marseille, Strasbourg, Aprey, Niederwiller, and Sceaux. An Appendix and Bibliography are followed by a Table of Illustrations, and a section on Marks and Signatures
