Italia Illustrata originally was published in 1460 in Latin and Roma Ristaurata in 1481 in Latin as well. This particular volume was revised by his sons. He is believed to be the founder of the science of archaeology and of Christian and medieval topography. He is also beleived to have coined the terms "modern age" and "dark ages".
